It’s true that most people want to have great abs simply for cosmetic reasons, but it does offer many health benefits as well. Belly fat is actually the worst kind of fat on your body and can cause many problems like trouble breathing, blood pressure problems, diabetes and heart disease. So if you want to build great abs and become healthier, than exercise your abs. Contrary to popular belief, doing thousands of sit ups and ab workouts every day will not instantly sculpt perfect abs. It takes a very long time to get to the point that Brad Pitt is at. It requires a perfect balance of cardio, dieting and a strict exercise regimen. For example, you cannot do the same ab exercises everyday or expect to build your ab muscles by just targeting your upper abs. Do not overwork your abs. They are like every other part of your body and must have time to rest in order to heal and grow as rock hard muscle. For example, try working your lower abs one day by lying on your back and lifting your feet off the ground for six inches and holding for 3 sets of 1 minute. This is a very intense workout. The next day, target your upper abs with sit ups on an inverted incline bench while holding a 25 plate. The day after, target your oblique muscles by doing reverse crunches. When this 3 day routine is complete, start all over again with your lower abs. Try to rotate different exercises in and out, and try to incorporate some resistance in the form of weight. This will help build the fast-twitch muscles that are your abs. Don’t forget to follow a diet that is low in fat and sugars and processed sugars as well. Be sure to avoid simple sugars and carbohydrates as they will raise the blood sugar which triggers your body into storing the extra sugars as fat.
